Long Haired Dalmatian Puppies

Long-haired Dalmatian puppies are a unique and rare variation of the Dalmatian breed. The American kennel club does not currently recognize long-haired Dalmatians as part of the official breed. These are purebred Dalmatians and you can register them with other organizations.

If we talk about their long haired coats it is caused because of recessive traits which should be in both parents. Otherwise if one parent will have it, it will have a short coat but it can still pass the gene to future generations. If we talk about modern times, breeders are giving attention to these dogs.

Physical Characteristics Of Long Haired Dalmatians

Long-haired Dalmatians are tall and can have longer, softer and waiver coats. They give a fluffier and fuller appearance from their ears, chest, and tail which attract their lovers.

Long Haired Dalmatian Puppies Temperament

Long Haired Dalmatian Puppies are active, intelligent and they enjoy being involved in human interaction and family activities. These puppies also like physical exercise and activities like fetch and agility training. As they are intelligent, they respond well to training and can become well behaved dogs like other dalmatians.

Health

Long haired Dalmatians are generally healthy but still they can have some common health issues such as:

1. Deafness

Both short and long haired dalmatians have high chances of deafness. Deafness can affect one ear and sometimes both ears. We advise testing them for hearing issues at an early age.

2. Urinary Stones (Urolithiasis)

Long Haired Dalmatians can have urinary stones because of their different metabolism. These stones can cause problems such as blockages or pain. So if your dog faces this keep him hydrated and take him for a checkup.

3. Hip Dysplasia In Long Haired Dalmatian

Hip Dysplasia is also an issue which can happen to long haired dalmatians. It is a genetic problem in which abnormal formation of the hip joint is caused. But if your dog will maintain a healthy weight and regular minimal exercise then it can be managed.

4. Skin Allergies

Long haired and short haired dalmatian puppies both can have skin allergies due to food and environmental elements. So they need proper skin care to avoid skin issues.

5. Eye Issues

Long haired dalmatians can have eye issues like cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy (PRA). So if you feel any symptoms of those issues take your dog for an eye checkup otherwise it can cause vision loss.
